- A phrase normally uttered by a surgeon to inform anesthesia they are not providing sufficient sedation to the patient. It can be said with varying degrees of annoyance or urgency.
- Usage:
- Hey, Ed, the patient is moving.
- Synonyms:
- is the patient relaxed?, what is the bis?, the patient is fighting, patient is trying to help, patient is putting on shoes, getting light, put another quarter in the anesthesia machine

- The process of giving a patient enough sedation to keep them asleep for awhile.
- Usage:
- I just snowed my patient so we shouldn't have to deal with him until day-shift gets here.

sedation holiday
1
- Definition:
- A brief period of time--usually five minutes or so--during which the sedation of a patient is turned off so that the staff can preform a neurological assessment. For example the nurse would make the patient wiggle his toes, see if he can follow a moving finger, etc.
- Usage:
- We need a sedation holiday to assess the patient in room 7 who's on the Propofol drip.

sweet milk

- Propofol. It's a reference to the drug's milky appearance and it's effectiveness at relieving pain.
- Usage:
