Radiotherapy. Radiotherapy uses high-energy rays to damage cancerous cells in order to stop them from growing and multiplying. This operation is usually preformed by a radiation oncologist. External radiation is preformed using a machine, whereas internal radiation uses a small implant of radioactive material that is inserted in the patient near the tumor. Common side effects include rash, redness, loss of appetite, and tiredness.
