- Definition:

- Definition:
- Bilirubin. Bilirubin is the yellow breakdown product of normal heme catabolism. Bilirubin is excreted in bile, and its levels are elevated in certain diseases. It is responsible for the yellow color of bruises and the yellow discoloration in jaundice.
- Usage:
- The patients severe hepatitis is the likely cause of the increased bili. Boy, there are no shortage of sexual cautionary tales on the floor tonight.
BLS
- Definition:
- Basic life support. (BLS) is a level of medical care which is used for patients with life-threatening illness or injury until the patient can be given full medical care. It's a certification every nurses needs to perform CPR.
- Usage:
- An applicant says in his job interview: "I may not be BLS certified, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night ... any points for comedy?
body packer
- Definition:
- An individual who has tried to smuggle narcotics--usually in a balloon or condom--by either swallowing them or inserting them into an orrifice.
- Usage:
- Keith Richard's X-ray revealed that not only does he have a broken pelvis, but that he's also a body packer. He wasn't so much rolling stones as he was smuggling them.
